Original Musical Compositions

I have composed a number of "serious" pieces of music and I will be showing them from this page. Some are midi files; a few are MP3s. I'll be glad to let anyone use them as long as it's not for some nefarious reason. Just let me know, let me know where, and give me credit for the composition (who knows, I may be "discovered" and be the next Charles Ives....)
  • The Jazz Suite is the first episode of the (uncompleted) Werewolf Oratorio, incidental music to accompany a reading of The Werewolf (which is included on the Verse page). It is an atonal piece meant to invoke the nocturnal activities of a wolf pack by emphasizing the rhythms of several dance forms.
  • Play The WerewolfThe WerewolfDownload The WerewolfThe Werewolf
The second episode of The Werewolf Oratorio is contrapuntal piece that serves as the actual introduction to the poem cycle.
  • Play Symphonetta mvt. 1Symphonetta mvt. 1Download Symphonetta mvt. 1Symphonetta mvt. 1

The third episode of the oratorio is called symphonetta. It is a four movement work that, although it is not a strict symphony (being a programmatic work), bears some similarities to symphony form. The first two movements musically portray historical instances. The third provides an interlude between the Werewolves of the 15th century and the Therians of today and the third movement is a choral piece representing the modern Therian community.

The first movement portrays the ancient Neuri and the life of Arminius.

  • Play Symphonetta 2Symphonetta 2Download Symphonetta 2Symphonetta 2
The second movement, somewhat darker than the first, represents the lives of Theiss and the last Sahn. Included are a plainchant, like tune and a funeral march.
  • Play Symphonetta 3 - EclipseSymphonetta 3 - EclipseDownload Symphonetta 3 - EclipseSymphonetta 3 - Eclipse
Based on the theory that therianthropy was almost totally suppressed between the Inquisitions of the 15th century and the present appearance of the modern Therian Community, this third movement represents the eclipse of the Therian community in history.
  • Play Symphonetta 4 - Werewolf AnthemSymphonetta 4 - Werewolf AnthemDownload Symphonetta 4 - Werewolf AnthemSymphonetta 4 - Werewolf Anthem
The fourth movement, representing the modern Therian Community, is a choral piece (without the voices - I don't have a choir at my disposal currently). The words are the Werewolf Anthem (the poem is given on the Verse page) and the tune is an elaboration on an older piece of mine - Variations on "Rosin the Beau". the choir is meant to come in on the last two sections.
  • Play MetamorphosisMetamorphosisDownload MetamorphosisMetamorphosis

Metamophosis is a strange little piece that attempts to present a music allegory to a shift.

  • Play The Werewolf: A SongThe Werewolf: A SongDownload The Werewolf: A SongThe Werewolf: A Song

The Werewolf is a song of lost love. The words are in the Verses section.

As I complete further parts of the Oratorio, I'll place them here. I also have some other pieces that I will put up over time - mostly collections of small pieces in midi format.
Interested in performing any of these pieces? Send me a request. I have scores in hard copy.
